Privacy policy
Updated 23 October 2026
Novila is built so that your health data stays with you. This policy says what the app handles, where it is kept, who can see it and what you can do about it.
What Novila handles
What you enter yourself: your name, birth year, height, weight and body measurements; your sleep (with what may have affected a night, such as your period), food (with the meals you write in your own words and star, for quick logging), drinks and workouts, with the repetitions you did and effort and pain after a session; your answers to the training and sleep coaches; your food preferences, including allergies, and the recipes you write yourself; if you turn on Follow your cycle, the days of your period and the symptoms you log, which are deleted when you turn it off; and your goals, reminders and settings. If you allow it, also what Novila reads from Health Connect, below. Everything is optional, and Novila works without a name or an account.
Where it is kept
Only on your phone, encrypted with a key from the phone's Android Keystore. Novila has no account and no server, and the app has no access to the internet, so nothing you log can be sent anywhere. Novila's data is left out of Android's backup and of transfers to a new phone.
Health Connect
If you allow it, Novila reads today's steps and active calories, your workouts from the last five weeks, your sleep up to two years back, and your resting heart rate and heart rate variability from the last two weeks. The data is read only while the app is open, used only to show your day and plan your training, and kept only in memory: Novila never saves it, never writes to Health Connect and never shares it. Novila's use of data from Health Connect follows the Health Connect permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can turn off access at any time in Health Connect.
Shared with no one
Novila has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your data is not sold, not shared with anyone and not used for advertising. The developer never receives it.
Notifications, the widget and the tile
Reminders you turn on show a short notification, and the widget, if you add it, shows today's balance, sleep, food and water on your home screen. The Quick Settings tile, if you add it, shows today's glasses of water, but not on the lock screen. Anyone who sees your phone can see them. You can turn reminders off and remove the widget and the tile at any time.
You decide
You can see and change what you have logged in the app. Delete all data under Settings removes your health data from the phone at once, and uninstalling Novila removes all of it. No copy exists anywhere else, unless you saved one yourself (below), so there is nothing more for the developer to delete or hand over. Data in Health Connect is managed in Health Connect.
Your own copy
Under Settings you can save a copy of your data as a file, and read it in again, for example on a new phone. You choose where the file is saved with Android's own file picker, and Novila never sends it anywhere. The copy holds what you have entered in Novila, not what is read from Health Connect, and it is not encrypted, so keep it where only you can reach it. If you save it in a cloud service, that service's terms apply to the file. Reading a copy in replaces what Novila has on the phone.
Google Play and Android
Novila is installed through Google Play, and Health Connect is part of Android made by Google. They follow Google's privacy policy. If you share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google Play may give the developer crash reports, which do not contain what you log in Novila.
For adults
Novila is made for adults and is not directed at children.
Questions and changes
Questions about privacy go to the developer's contact address on Novila's page in Google Play. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). If this policy changes, the new version comes with an app update, with its date above.
